George Wilmot/William Woolley

George was a son of Frederick, a house painter, & Eliza (Jones), and lived in 18 Bryn Street. He married Ann Elizabeth Andrew in Derby on 24/11/1917 and worked as a motor mechanic and as a lorry driver, he was often described as 'a good man'. He was brother of James Lawton (following record). His employers R White and Sons wrote to the Colonel of his regiment informing them of his good qualities, stating they were keeping his job open for him upon his return, they also stated and hoped he would be able to follow his own trade in the Army. He had blue eyes. He served from 25/09/1915 until 23/02/1919 including time in France where he earned the British War and Victory medals.
