Bert was a son of Herbert Edward, pressman at a woollen mill & Mary Ann (Davies), who lived at 24 New Church Street with 5 brothers & 4 sisters. He went to France in June 1916 & was killed in action on the Somme. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, St David's and Llanllwchaiarn Churches. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War & Victory medals.
