Arthur Evans

Birth: 1889
Death: 11/4/1917
Regiment: Sergt. 1483 Australian Imperial Forces, 15th Battalion
Battles: Western Front and Gallipoli
Killed: 11/4/1917 in France


He was the son of Thomas Arthur and Harriet (Rogers) of Bryn Street, and had 2 brothers & 3 sisters. He had been a baker, then emigrated to Australia where he enlisted. He was wounded in Gallipoli but recovered, was mentioned in despatches & promoted to sergt. He then went to France where he was killed in action. He received the British War & Victory medals. He is commemorated on the Villiers-Bretonneux Memorial, St David's & Llanllwchaiarn churches and the Wesleyan chapel
