Owen was born to Mason, a librarian at the Free Library and Sarah (Phillips) and had 4 brothers & a sister. He served his apprenticeship locally, then moved to Gloucester and then to Dorking . He married Elizabeth Amelia in Wakefield & had 4 children. He died at Loos after being reported missing, presumed dead in July after his platoon had gone over Hillock Road at Loos. He is commemorated on their memorial and in St David's & Llanllwchaiarn Churches.
