John was born to George Ewart, a timber merchant's labourer and Jane, living at Cross Guns Cottage, The Lot, Park Street with 3 sisters. He worked at the RWW. He was an allround sportsman and had served in the Territorials. He was injured in Gallipoli and after leave returend to fight in Egypt and Palestine where he was killed in Beersheba and commemorated on the memorial, St David's Church & the Baptist Chapel. He was awarded the British War & Victory medals.
